The World is your Kaleidoscope

I arrived at the National Archives this morning not knowing what to expect.  Little did I know I was in for quite a treat!  I love old documents and we spent the morning with some of America’s most important and symbolic documents.

Walking in the Archive’s rotunda it is quite dim and cool.  There are guards flanking each of the large cases.  Even before the opening there were a few people surrounding the thick glass cases and I had to wait patiently to approach Declaration of Independence.  It was like waiting for Christmas.  As our instructor this morning, the Archives’ Education Specialist, described it – it’s one of the goosebump moments.  Somehow seeing that document with all the signatures of the great men we spend so much time learning about from a young age made the signers seem real to me.

Later we spent time learning how to integrate the world art with the world of documentary…
