Sotaro Yasui was a Japanese artist of Western painting; an oil painter (1888-1955). In 1907, he went to Paris in order to study Western painting by Jean-Paul Laurens. Camille Pissarro and Paul Cezanne also reached him. This picture’s title is “Kinyo” that is model’s nickname. She wore bright blue China dress, but she was Japanese, who was a daughter of the consul of Shanghai. She was able to speak some languages, and undoubtedly one of the exponent of the Japan’s new age’s advanced women.
